“Which shampoo should I use?”
At Bloom & Root, our shampoo formulas have been carefully developed in partnership with leading hair restoration specialists based in Glasgow, ensuring our products are designed to support both you and your hair throughout every stage of the regrowth journey.
With so many options on the market, choosing the right products can quickly become overwhelming. At Bloom & Root, our experts break it down into clear, practical guidance—helping you choose the right products and achieve the best possible results.
Why your shampoo matters:
After a hair transplant, the scalp is healing from thousands of microscopic incisions where new follicles have been implanted. During the first few weeks, these grafts remain delicate and require careful protection to ensure optimal results.
A responsible transplant surgeon will typically recommend the use of a very gentle, fragrance-free shampoo — often a baby shampoo — for at least the first 2–4 weeks. At this stage, the priority is not stimulation or treatment, but rather to:
· Keep the scalp clean
· Reduce the risk of infection
· Minimise irritation
· Allow the grafts to take root and connect to circulation
Most shampoos on the market are formulated for regular use on healthy scalps and often contain fragrances, stronger cleansing agents, or active ingredients that are simply too harsh during this early healing phase.
Using anything other than a mild, fragrance-free formula too soon can compromise comfort and, in some cases, interfere with the healing process.
After the 4-week mark, only after the scalp is healed and less inflamed is where our products come in.
Caffeine and Biotin Shampoo and Conditioner:

You may ask, why biotin & caffeine shampoos? Simply put, these ingredients have one clear purpose: to support healthier and stronger hair from the root.
Caffeine, a key ingredient in our formula, has been widely studied for its potential role in hair care. It is known to help stimulate your scalp and support hair follicle activity, while also helping to counteract the effects of DHT — a hormone commonly linked to hair thinning.
Biotin (Vitamin B7) plays an essential role in the production of keratin, the protein that forms the foundation of your hair. When used in haircare formulations, it fortifies the hair fibre, reduces breakage, and improves overall thickness and texture.
Following the initial healing phase after a hair transplant, introducing the right products becomes essential. At this stage, ingredients such as caffeine and biotin can help nourish the scalp, maintain a healthy environment, strengthen newly growing hair, and promote thicker and healthier regrowth, making them a valuable addition to your long-term hair care routine.
Rosemary and Saw Palmetto Hair Oil:

A natural approach to supporting healthier hair, rosemary oil has gained significant attention in recent years for its role in improving hair thickness and overall scalp health. Often labelled “nature’s minoxidil” t is known to help improve scalp circulation and encourage a more nourishing environment for hair follicles, making it a popular choice in modern haircare.
Our 100% natural formula also includes saw palmetto, a plant-based ingredient associated with blocking the effects of DHT, making it the ultimate tool in supporting your hair regrowth journey.
Biotin and Caffeine Serums: A More Targeted Support
Biotin and Caffeine serums offer a more targeted way to support the hair and scalp. Because they are leave-in treatments, they remain on the scalp for much longer than a shampoo or conditioner, allowing the active ingredients to absorb to deeper layers of your scalp to deliver their benefits. Once the healing phase is complete, apply the serum daily to the scalp, gently massage it in and leave it on throughout the day.
Top tip: Once the scalp has fully healed, using a derma roller before applying your serum may help enhance absorption, allowing the product to nourish the scalp more effectively, giving the active ingredients an added boost.
Putting It All Together: A Simple Routine
Weeks 1–4:
Avoid all serums, oils, and standard shampoos. Instead, use a gentle baby shampoo twice daily to carefully cleanse the area while the scalp heals.
After 4 weeks (or once the scalp is fully healed, whichever comes later):
Introduce a biotin and caffeine shampoo and conditioner into your routine to promote stronger, healthier and thicker hair growth. At this stage, you may also consider incorporating a serum and oil to provide a more targeted support and help maintain long-term results from your treatment.
Final Thoughts
Hair transplant results are not determined by the procedure alone—how you care for your scalp and hair in the weeks and months that follow, plays a crucial role in achieving the best possible outcome. Taking a structured, considered approach to aftercare ensures that newly implanted hair follicles are given the optimal environment to take root, grow, and thrive.
By introducing the right products at the right time, you can support both the healing process and the long-term strength, quality, and appearance of your hair. From gentle cleansing in the early stages to more targeted support as your scalp recovers, each step plays a part in your overall results.
At Bloom & Root, our formulations have been developed with this journey in mind—designed to support your hair at every stage, from recovery through to long-term maintenance. Rooted in Science, Designed for Confidence!
